The local climate is called unique. The mountain ranges of Granada protect Torrevieja from the hot breath of the Sahara from the south, and the foothills of the Cordilleras from the cold winds of the Atlantic Ocean from the north. Salt lakes in and around the city mitigate temperature fluctuations and reduce humidity. It rains much less in Torrevieja than in other cities in Alicante.

Beach Holidays in Torrevieja

The main attractions of Torrevieja are the sandy beaches with turquoise water and unique natural parks with tropical vegetation. Torrevieja is the ideal Mediterranean resort of the Costa Blanca, but you will not see here the cultural monuments and historical medieval buildings. Sandy beaches cover 25 km of coastline.

Most of them have received the Blue Flag Award for cleanliness, comfort, and safety. Each public beach in Torrevieja is equipped with toilets, foot showers, and lifeguard stations. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for rent, there are cafes and restaurants.

Top Beaches in Torrevieja

There is a list of the most popular outstanding beaches in Torrevieja:

–  La Mata (Playa de la Mata)

It is the largest recreational area in the city and county of 1930 m long and 47 m wide. The beach is studded with light, soft sand and the descent into the water is gentle. Along the coast, you can walk along the wooden promenade.

La Mata has located 6.5 km from the historic center of Torrevieja and can easily be reached on foot. If you’re not ready for a long walk, there are buses at your service.

–  Cala Cabo Cervera

This cozy hundred-meter sandy cove is adjacent to La Mata. On the shore of fine yellow sand, the entrance to the water is quite comfortable, at the bottom, there are sometimes rocky formations.

Nearby there are several sandy and rocky coves, but they are not equipped for swimming and can even be dangerous for unsure swimmers. In these places of Torrevieja auto-tourists and divers prefer to stop.

– Playa Del Cura

It is great for family vacations: the entrance to the water is easy for children, and the water is clean and transparent. There are many restaurants, bars, stores, and souvenir shops around. You can come here not only to sunbathe but also to walk along the beach on a spacious promenade decorated with palm trees and sculptures.
