Password: Fun

Do you remember your room when you were a kid? I am sure that each of us keeps in memory some detail, sensation or episode related to the room in which they grew up.

Children use their bedrooms as it is their little apartment. In their rooms, children play, sleep, read, socialize, study, and take refuge when they are sad.

For this reason, when the time comes to furnish the kids’ room, parents usually try to make it as welcoming as possible, and they make the room reflect the personality of their child.

What does your child like? This is a starting point, an almost fundamental rule when furnishing and decorating your child’s bedroom – your kid must like it.

It is essential to keep in mind its interests and passions. So make space for all those superheroes, dinosaurs, sports, princesses or favorite beloved cartoon characters.

Decoration and Functionality

A certainly useful factor in the case of a small room can be to choose a bridge structure, adding the bed to the wall and “assimilating” it all inside the wardrobe.

You can opt-out for using the staircase and space under the bed to place objects or clothes. Make it seem like a decorative requirement, not a necessity.

If the Room is Shared

Brothers and sisters often find themselves sharing the bedroom and because of convenience, we tend to offer them a common and less personalized space.

But there are easy and fun ways to highlight the individuality of each little owner of the bedroom.

Use different beds, lamps, or even decorative elements on the wall which will in a certain sense, “mark the territory” and divide the room.

You can even paint the room with two different colors which will represent each child. But while creating a divided space for each kid, don’t forget to maintain a certain consistency and create a warm shared space.

The Bed as a Decorative Element

The choice of bed offers different decorative solutions. The structure of single beds can be a castle, a mezzanine or a bridge equipped with different types of decorations.

The lower part of a loft bed can, for example, offer space for an “exclusive” play area or even a reading corner equipped with soft cushions and poufs. It is now quite common to see bunk beds decked out as real medieval manors.

Do you want to make your children sleep under a sky full of stars? You can do it: just attach the stickers in the shape of the moon, stars, and planets that light up in the dark.

Colorful Walls

The walls are the frame of the bedroom, the element that surrounds the furniture. They are therefore also the first aesthetic factor of a room.

It is worth thinking about their coloring based on the chosen theme and the furnishings you want to insert. Different motifs can be chosen for the individual walls, thus differentiating different areas in the room.

To make the bedroom unique, you can decorate it with your child’s name: you can print the letters that make up the name and hang them in frames of the same color, or hang large letters in wood or other material.

When the Wall Becomes Art

What could be more fun than changing the decoration of the room every day? It is possible thanks to the coating in blackboard paint. In this way, children can draw on the walls without feeling guilty!

Wall stickers are an element that adds particularity and character to the bedroom.

Here the imagination of each parent really emerges because the stickers acquire to find decorative solutions that simple painting (unless you hire a real artist) does not offer.

They are also easy to remove when children grow up or get tired of them.

Entry into Your Child’s World

Normally we tend to consider the door as the simple entrance to a house or a room in the house. Yet even here there we can use various decorative solutions.

Think about shades of color that adapt to the theme of the bedroom and signs on the door (in wood or metal) decorated with the child’s name. Even the handle can become an element of ornament.

For a fairytale room, directly from the Disney site, you can download silhouettes and tutorials to decorate the door handle. The important thing is to always follow the chosen theme with consistency and originality.

The Perfect Reading Corner

In a bedroom where every piece of furniture and object is child-friendly, a reading corner with a chair, ottoman or cushions next to the shelves full of books can give a unique emphasis to the room.

If there is no space for a real reading corner, you can put a shelf next or above a table. This will create a space dedicated to the imagination that only books can generate in children.

Play Area

A nice carpet will not only give a touch of color to the room but will also offer children the opportunity to roll around and play on the floor. An alternative to the classic rug is the plastic puzzle mat.

You can find it in many versions, with letters, numbers, animals, and princesses. Let your child choose what they prefer!

A World of Accessories

The character of a room is not only given by its colors, walls, and furnishings. Accessories can make any bedroom more welcoming, creative and personal.

An Indian tent can represent a play area while a canopy transforms the room into a kingdom full of fantasy and fairy tales.

Squares, rugs, lamps… each object can be personalized to give more character to the room. Giant pom-poms can be hung from the ceiling, or laid on the bed. It is perfect for a room with delicate colors.
