Understanding How Bed Bugs Thrive and Survive

Bed bugs feed only on human and animal blood. They tend to stay close to a host to survive.

Thus, they can live on furniture, in any crack or crevice in your house, or the carpet.

If you believe there are bed bugs in your home, consider Boise pest control solutions that have been proven to effectively get rid of all bed bugs in a home.

Bed Bug Life Cycle

Female bed bugs can lay up to five eggs per day and 500 eggs in their lifetime. These small, white eggs are usually laid in clusters of 50.

They hatch in around two weeks. After they hatch, they enter the nymph stage. These younger bugs look like a smaller version of their adults.

If you have a serious bed bug infestation at home, you may find the cast skin along crevices of furniture or the baseboard of a room.

Adult bed bugs are expected to live roughly ten months.

But, they can live up to 300 days in normal room temperatures and with the right environment. Adult bed bugs are as big as apple seeds.

What they Do at Night

Bed bugs are primarily active at night because this is when they feed. They will attack you when you are sleeping to go undetected.

But, if you have a major infestation, you can see bed bug activities during the day.

Where they Hide

Bed bugs tend to stay in areas around you, as their host. If you believe you have a bed bug infestation, find them first in your bedroom.

Because they have flat bodies, these bugs can easily hide in the seams of a mattress or upholstered furniture.

Also, they can live along the baseboard of a room, in curtain folds, and couch seams. They will look for a nice dark home anywhere near their hosts.

How to Deal with an Infestation

If you are sure that you have bed bugs at home, call bed bug exterminators.

According to experts, the only way to get rid of bed bugs effectively is through methods and solutions used by pest control professionals.

Also, these professionals will help you keep your home free of other bugs and prevent future bed bug infestations.
