1. Choose the Right Type of Tree

Look for an evergreen tree that has shorter needles like Nobel Fir and Fraser. Such trees are usually easier to decorate than others.

That is because they have stronger stems to support heavier ornaments, and they also have some space between their branches for decorations.

When you choose to get a fresh tree from a choose-and-cut farm, you can be sure that the tree you are purchasing is fresh.

Put it in the unheated space with its cut end dipped in a bucket of water in order to keep it fresh before you actually display it inside your home.

2. Check the Space Between Branches

Look for a tree on which the ornaments can hang straight. Most Christmas trees are groomed to be full and lush so make sure you choose the one having enough space between its branches to hang ornaments.

A tree that allows ornaments to hang straight looks prettier. Check out some amazing Christmas tree decorations online at Down To The Woods.

Test a tree before making the purchase. Bring an unbreakable ornament with you to the market and hang it on various branches to check if there is enough room for it to hang straight between the tree branches.

3. Get It the Right Height

Based on the height of your ceiling, get your tree to the right height. Cut the tree more off its bottom. This way, you can be sure that it fits perfectly in your space.

Also, measure its diameter and trim it to adjust it in your space. You can choose between full and slim trees. It is recommended to choose the tree height that leaves at least a foot of space from the tip of the tree tip to the ceiling.

This will also enable you to add a tree topper. This also helps ensures that there is no damage done to your ceiling.

4. Check the Freshness

A fresh tree will have fresh, green, shiny, and stiff needles. Dry and brownish needles are not the indication of a fresh tree.

Therefore, you should carefully observe the needles before you purchase a Christmas tree. The needles should not fall off when you pull on a branch.

5. Recycle

Recycle your Christmas tree when the holidays are over. Find out if your community has a central drop-off point for recycling.

You can also call the waste management company to have your tree recycled for mulch. You can use this mulch for your yard or parks. You can also break off some branches for a compost pile before hauling over your Christmas tree.
