Flooring adds a base to a house, with marble flooring most people like to add a few rugs and be done with it however, others like to have bamboo or wooden floors.

In case you have a toddler at home you might have seen how difficult it is to maintain a wooden floor, it requires polishing, cleaning, sanding, and oiling.

The worst part of having a wooden floor is that in case of any spillage of liquid, they automatically get ruined.

The best thing that you can do to your house is to give it a wet floor solution, you might have seen this in a kitchen or bathroom where floors are covered with water.

Mostly when it comes to tiles we only think about kitchen floors or bathroom floors, however, young couples with toddlers are now looking for a more functional solution which is the reason they usually look for a house with tile.

Useful Tips to Calculate Cost to Tile a Floor

If you are thinking of installing tiles on your floor because of the toddler at home or you just want to give your kitchen and bathroom a new look, changing the tiles is the best solution.

Tile floors can be quite expensive if they are not handled by professionals, which means before starting the project, it is important to start with cost estimation.

Maintaining a budget is obviously the first thing that everyone must do because exceeding the budget limits can affect the overall progress of the project.

There are many companies out there offering flooring estimating services that can help you in estimating the cost to tile a floor.

If you are starting a renovation project for the first time and you need to start the budgeting and cost estimation process here is a simple guide that can help you with the process.

Cost of Tiles

The first step of cost estimation is to select the tile, its quality, and design because this will set the foundation of the budget.

If you buy high quality or expensive tiles the budget will be higher but this will be for the long term and the quality will stay the same for long.

So, once you have selected the tile design and know the price, measure up the bathroom and see how many tiles you will require, adding up the price will help you know how much you will be spending.

Cost of Raw Material

Apart from tiles, you will also be required to get raw martial like cement, plaster of Paris or other things to stick it to the wall.

You can also find already mixed tile adhesive mixture that you can use for sticking your tiles to the wall or floor. You will get enough for per square foot and then you will be required to multiply it further to have an overall quantity.

Cost of Labor

For better finishing it is best to leave it to the professional, you don’t have to do everything on your own.

With professional help, you will have a proper sequence as well as better finish where you don’t have to experiment with the adhesive material or see if the tiles are in a straight line.

Adding up the overall labor cost will only save you from the trouble of wasting material which will be worth it later.

Added Expenses

Apart from the labor fee, raw material, adhesive and tiles you will also require additional things for grouting, fixing or polishing.

In some cases, if you want to revamp the overall look you might be required to remove the already fixed floor first and then you can start with installing the tiles and revamping the look of the floor.

Overall Sum

Once you have all the prices jotted down, now is the time to sum it all up. The main idea is to get the total amount and if it exceeds your budget, you can fix the amount by compromising on the things or material.

You can get a bulk discount if you get all the things from a single place or you can also decide to get ready-made adhesive or change the design or quality of tiles to make it more affordable.

With small changes, you will be able to save a lot and if you can be a little helpful and try to help you labor, you might be able to negotiate the price down a little bit.
