6 Reasons to Renovate Your Bathroom

It’s amazing how quickly we adapt to things. A bathroom unit may become chipped, or a hinge becomes loose.

We may drop something on the floor and crack a tile. Perhaps the toilet doesn’t flush very well or there is a leaking pipe.

6 Reasons to Renovate Your Bathroom

One day we ‘wake up’ and decide to either fix each issue in turn, or to totally renovate the bathroom.

For some, the bathroom may have never been fit for purpose. Alternatively, the bathroom was fine once when there were just two adults at home, but now there are young children fighting for space.

Whether the bathroom is past its prime, no longer fit for purpose or you simply want a change, renovation can often be the solution.

We will now look in detail at six reasons why this could be true for you

1. The Property Value Can Be Enhanced

In some cases, bathroom modernization can simply keep our property value stable, rather than reducing over time.

If everyone in your road is enlarging their bathroom, it may be wise to do the same. Perhaps there is a ‘design fault’ with the house layout that everyone is addressing.

By following suit, there is more chance of keeping your house price ‘up with the pack’.

The professionals say that of all the house renovations people can undertake, it’s a new bathroom or kitchen that can add the most value to a property.

Research shows that people are likely to recoup over half of their bathroom renovation costs on reselling their homes.

Quality Work Will Be Required

In order to fully achieve this, it’s important a layman doesn’t perform the renovation unless they totally know what they are doing.

Typically, a house will only become worth more if quality items have been installed in the bathroom by certified professionals.

Whilst this route will require the most financial investment, it’s something that may pay off over time.

For this reason, many people seek professional help online. If someone were to click here, they would learn that such companies often offer free consultations.

Folk are actively seeking licensed builders who can renovate both domestic and commercial bathrooms.

The public wants to see examples of previous work, to read reviews and also learn about costs and timescales over the internet.

2. The Home Can Be Modernized

The home renovation provides people with the opportunity to say goodbye to the old and tired, and hello to the new and fresh.

Room colours go out of fashion every three to five years, and cabinet handles and faucets that once wowed may now look ugly.

The modernization process lets people remove their old black and white tiles and worn, retro furniture.

Modern style bathrooms are generally simpler to use and provide a more marketable room. People can opt for mirrors containing lights and shaver plugs.

They can choose power showers too. If the bathroom is connected to a smart heating system, it will be possible to set the room temperature individually and to even do so remotely with a smartphone.

New house buyers increasingly expect to have a ‘plug and play’ home, meaning they want everything in place and ready to use. Renovation can meet this need with style.

3. All Issues Can Be Fixed at Once

This could include such things as plumbing problems. There may have been leaky taps or pipes, or even water damage.

Such things can result in issues with mold or mildew. It’s no surprise, either, because the room will often be filled with humidity and moisture.

There may be rotting wooden frames or old, damp carpet on the floor to address as well.

Over time, window seals can become perished, letting the wet and cold air enter. The toilet may have become stained over the years, and there may be holes in the wall from old towel holders or pictures.

The renovation process is a great time to review the bathroom layout as well. Perhaps the toilet should be moved or a large bath is replaced with a new shower.

4. Money Can Be Saved

Whilst bathroom renovations can be expensive, they can pay dividends over time. It’s been calculated that our bathrooms are responsible for 50% of our daily water usage.

If someone replaces their bath with a shower, this usage will reduce.

New toilets are designed to use less water, too. They frequently provide the additional option for a short or long flush.

Added to that is the opportunity to install water-saving faucets and showerheads.

5. The Room Can Become More Tailored for You

Perhaps you now have young children and they keep slipping on the bathroom floor. There may be nasty sharp corners due to the placement of ageing units and a lack of floor space.

A bedroom may benefit from becoming ensuite so there are fewer battles for the bathroom in the mornings.

In some cases, people are able to knock down a wall to enlarge their bathroom. Always ensure professionals are first consulted.

Anyone who knocks down a supporting wall would experience major issues.

When people reach their mature years they sometimes require a walk-in bath or shower, due to mobility issues. Perhaps safety handles will be needed on the walls or by the sink or toilet.

6. Space Can Be Maximized

It’s great to get a room and have a clean slate and blank canvas. People can have better-placed units and change the plumbing arrangement.

Wall cabinets can be added instead of having baskets on the floor. Rather than having just a sink unit, one can be bought that contains under-storage.

There is no denying that the process of renovation can be disruptive. This can include a temporary lack of running water, and having showers and toilets out of use.

If there are babies or young children at home things can become even more challenging. Once the work is finished, however, you should have several years of maintenance-free enjoyment of your new bathroom.

It should be more functional and pleasing to the eye and may increase the market value of your home if you ever decide to move.
