It’s never an easy process always keeping your kitchen cupboards in pristine condition at all times with all the daily beatings they receive.

What with all the drips and spills that cupboards have to deal with every day. These stains can, over time, build up and become a problem even for the expert cleaners to remove. And Cupboard Doors are usually the most affected in this case.

The cupboard handles are ever exposed to grease and grime from preparing meals which often leave food particles, dust, and sticky fingers as residue. But there also isn’t much you can do about it as you have to open the Cupboard Doors and take the cooking ingredients from there and return them when finished. Through all that process, your cupboards, especially the wooden ones are bound to get dirty.

To prevent cupboards, especially the kitchen cupboards, from getting rusty and dirty, you need to clean them regularly. By that, it is also essential to note that natural cleansers are the best cleaning agents for bringing a shine to rusty cupboards.

Remember, even as you aim to clean your cupboards, you also don’t want to compromise their varnishes. And that’s why it is also advisable that you also polish the cupboards after cleaning them to make them shine.

Here are amazing suggestions that you can try to make your wooden cupboards looking revived and refreshed.

  1. Make a Vinegar Solution

First, you want to mix one cup of cider or white vinegar with one cup of water. Vinegar is a great cleaning solution for most household items. And the wooden cupboards are no different. The mild cleaning solution that you have made is excellent for everyday use on your wooden cupboards. Plus, it also won’t warp off any of the wood or take off its finish.

However, you find that some homeowners are not fans of using vinegar. In this case, you can opt for a light soap solution. Here, you want to mix a teaspoon of the common dish soap with one cup of water. It should also do the trick.

As you clean your cupboards, try not to use harsh all-purpose cleansers as they may cause warping and discoloration.

  1. Clean the Outsides of Your Cupboards Regularly

Cupboards that you use regularly are bound to get dirty and rusty a lot quicker. Therefore, it is best that you work on cleaning their insides more regularly. Wiping them off in about every two weeks can suffice.

While wiping your cupboards, you might want to use mild vinegar or soap solutions. Afterward, you can dry the cupboards using a clean towel and then return everything to your cupboard shelves.

  1. Wipe the Outsides of Your Kitchen Cupboards

This is more applicable to the Cupboard Doors, especially the handles and sides. Grease and other food particles will always find their way on the surfaces of your cupboard surfaces and accumulate there over time. Think of every time that you cook that you have to reach for the cupboard handles to grab some spice from your cupboards.

To clean the outsides of your cupboards, you can dip a clean washcloth or rag into a mild vinegar solution to wipe down your Cupboard Doors and even underneath your cupboards.

  1. Use Oil Soap Wood Cleaners

Oil soap is also another excellent solution for cleaning grease or any other caked-on substances without dealing any damage to the wooden surfaces of your cupboards. Oil soap is a lot stronger than vinegar or even the simple dish soap solutions that you can use as well. And that makes this solution the best option to opt for in case you want to deep clean your cupboards.

Use a soft piece of cloth to gently rub the oil soap on your cupboards in a circular motion. Remember not to apply too much pressure as you apply the oil soap.

  1. Dust Your Cupboards Regularly

Cupboards will also accumulate dust over time, especially if you don’t clean them regularly. Dust is also not a friend to cupboards. And when left to linger on the cupboards for too long, dust can ruin the texture, color, and form of the cabinets.

To prevent this from happening, ensure that you regularly dust off your cupboards using a soft, dry cloth. Kitchen cupboards tend to trap grease especially when cooking which also traps dust onto the cupboard surfaces. When this happens, the dust becomes a lot harder to clean off if you leave it to linger on for too long.

  1. Remove Thick-caked Substances using Baking Soda

Baking soda is usually more helpful on occasions where you spill foodstuffs on the cabinets and leave them there for too long. Some food spills can harden and become quite menacing to remove. In such cases, you might want to use baking soda which acts like a mild abrasive to remove the dried substances without necessarily ruining your cupboard wood.

To make this solution, you want to mix the baking soda with water to form a thick paste. You can then dip a cloth in this paste and use it to remove and scrub off any caked-on substances on your cupboard. While doing this, you may also want to have a thin spatula around to scrape off any remaining food substances that will still be a problem.

  1. Polish or Wax Your Cupboard Surfaces after Cleaning

If you can polish your cabinet exterior surfaces after cleaning them, the wood can have a lustrous look. Polish helps to bring out the true character of your cupboards wood. However, you find that most wood polishes work too, either, leave a high shine on your wood or low luster. So, ensure that you choose wisely.

While waxing or polishing your cupboard surfaces, ensure that you gently rub it on all the cleaned surfaces. Rub the polish in a gentle and circular motion to ensure that the surface is evenly polished.

Final Thoughts

Thanks to these amazing tips and tricks to bring a shine to your wooden cupboards, you no longer have to worry about tossing them out. You can always opt for cupboard refacing or refinishing for bringing a shine to your cupboards once again.
