When you’re stuck indoors because the weather is gloomy, try bringing a bit of nature indoors with houseplants.

Many grow even in low light, and they do a lot more than just animating a space. They fill your home with fresh air while trapping pollutants, which is excellent for your health.

So, if you are looking to grow some houseplants or you already have some in your home – here are a few tips that will help you grow your houseplants with proficiency. Use these tips and keep your home or garden green:

1.  Provide Them with the Right Amount of Light

Indoor plants like snake plants (Sansevieria) or cast-iron plants (Aspidistra elatior) can easily thrive in the dim corners of your place. On the other hand, several plants need led grow lights to mature in the confines of your home correctly.

With these lights, you don’t have to worry about your indoor plants suffering from the lack of sunlight, as they can assist them in their growth.

However, it is always a good idea to read about your plants before bringing them to your home. Doing so will help you fulfill their need for a sufficient amount of sunlight.

2. Water Your Plants Consciously

Most plants require a pot with a drainage hole for excessive water. So, even when you water your plants more than they need, it won’t stick around their roots and cause them to rot.

As mentioned before, read plant care information tags to know how much and how often you need to water your plants. If you are still unsure about watering, you can get help from moisture indicator probes.

They’ll help you know if you have sufficiently watered your house plants. Plus, indoor plant growers also love to use long-spout watering cans and water spraying devices.

3.  Please Make Sure They Are Clean

Like everything else in your home, your plants are also infested with dust – and dirt on your houseplants can block sunlight. If you find dust on your plants, take them to the sink or shower and rinse them with a gentle spray of tepid water.

If you are using a large pot for your plants, wipe the plant with a clean and dry dust cloth or with a damp piece of sponge. Make sure you are gently cleaning your plants. And when you are done with the cleaning, let them dry in the warmth of the sunlight.

4.  Add Humidity

If you encounter brown tips on the leaves of your houseplants, it’s because the air in your place is too dry for them. You can group plants to retain their moisture naturally to solve this problem. Another thing you could do to help them retain moisture is by putting them in saucers filled with water or at the top of pebbles in trays.

In Conclusion

Houseplants are a great addition to your home decor. However, for homeowners sometimes it becomes challenging to provide plants with the care they need. Consequently, they blossom as you might have expected them to. Follow the steps mentioned above and watch your houseplants thrive naturally.
