Once you notice that water stays quite a long time to drain out of the toilet bowl, remain there, or rises again, your toilet is blocked.

These odd occurrences tend to happen in the most inopportune moments, but you can clear the lighter clogs yourself without having to pay a plumber.

The services of a professional plumber like someone at Sydney plumbing company, Off Tap Plumbing Pty Ltd should be employed in stressful situations or when you are uninformed about the steps to take.

Get a good plunger and homemade drain cleaner made with hot water, baking soda, and vinegar. These help in the quicker rescue of toilet clogging situations.

Take the following steps to unblock a clogged toilet;

Protect the Toilet from Overflowing

Your toilet hardly flushes properly after one flush, don’t flush again. Further flushing will bump more water into the toilet bowl.

Quickly take off the lid of the toilet tank, and close the flapper. Closing the flapper prevents water from entering the bowl. The flapper is a small circular drain stopper inside the tank.

Note the water in the tank is clean water; you can freely deep your hand into the tank.

Whenever you have the difficulty of flushing your toilet, you can quickly open the toilet lid and inspect the Plastic flapper.

The flapper releases water whenever the toilet is being flushed and closes when there’s water intake in it. If the rubber flapper is warped or twisted to seal the tube hole, there’s every need to replace it.

Prepare the Floor

To prevent the splash of the toilet water on the floor, carefully place newspapers or towels on the floor to soak up the liquid.

Preferably the paper fits the task because you can discard them without a cleanup.  Turn on the vent fan or open the door and windows to get rid of the foul smell.

If the clog is severe, it’s wise you put on your rubber gloves, as it will protect you from germs and bacteria. You can put on some worn outwears in case you get splashed in the process.

Clean Up the Trapped Item

To flush anything aside toilet paper or bigger masses of tissue paper, you can clog the sewage pipe. The clogged pipe can make further flushing quite impossible.

An example of a clogging threat is a sanitary napkin.

Employing an immediate approach, you can try using a liquid drain opener or a plunger but read the labeled directions carefully.

The plunger is capable of pushing waste item through and allow the toilet to flush.

Create a suction that will help dislodge paper waste flushing action.  You can bravely deep a covered hand to remove the trap and debris.

Again, reducing the tissue paper consumption at one sitting will help a lot.

Use a Quality Plunger

The two shapes of a plunger, the ball-shaped, and the fold-out rubber flange plunger are very good for use.

Avoid the cheap small suction-cup plunger because they often don’t work.

Run boiling water over the plunger, as it will soften the rubber and make it create a perfect seal.

Insert the plunger into the bowl

Once the plunger has covered the hole, submerge it in water for effectiveness, push and pull water through the opening, add more water if need be.

Check the drainage after the exercise, if the problem persists, calls Off Tap Plumbing for a quick and quality resolution.
