The cleaning of a rental unit is always up for debate, especially when it comes to determining who is ultimately responsible for cleaning the property in question. It is not just an ethical debate but also a legal one.

The answer varies from region to region. But in most cases, the landlord is ultimately responsible for the cleanliness of the rental units, especially when they are not in use.

And even in the sense of a good business, which rental unit landlord would want to showcase an unclean property to a potential client. So, it does make sense for the landlord and not the previous tenant to be responsible for the rental unit.

A landlord can hire an affordable handyman that offers cleaning rental unit services in their region. This certainly would make the task a lot simpler and also handled by professionals promptly. Here is how a professional would handle the task.

Start With the Kitchen

A professional handyman would start with the kitchen as this is the area that would be the messiest of the lot and would also take quite a lot of time to clean.

Now the handyman professional will break the process down into manageable sections starting with shelves and cupboards. Cleaning them inside out is the first task of the handyman.

The wooden floors, if there are any, would be next, and finally, the appliances would be cleaned by the professional. The cobwebs would also be removed during the same time.

Cleaning The Clutter of The House

Before moving to any specific section, the handyman would remove the house’s clutter. This is something that is essential for the cleaning process as even a clean house would look messy if the interior is full of clutter and disorganized.

So, naturally, this is the next part of the cleaning process. A landlord could ask for minor repairs from the handyman during this process as this is the best time to fulfill such a requirement.Next Step: Bathroom

The bathroom is one of the make-or-break situations when renting out a property. If the bathroom is unclean in any way, any potential renter would be extremely unlikely to opt for the property.

Handyman professional does place particular importance on cleaning up the bathroom space. They are responsible for cleaning blemishes, stains, limescale, and anything else that might make the bathroom look unclean.

The bathroom floor, shower, sink, toilet, etc., everything would be scrubbed, and also the drains would be cleaned.

Walls

After the bathroom, the house’s walls are the focus of the cleaning operation. Any dirty marks, scratches, and scruffs would be inspected, and proper maintenance procedures would be applied to them. The same is the case with any nail holes as well.

Now, if the landlord wants a complete repaint of the unit’s interior, it would be done after the property’s thorough cleaning and only when all the furniture and accessories are stored safely.

Furnishing

The last step of the indoor cleaning is the furnishing of the house. The cleaning professional would vacuum the furniture in the unit and clean its furnishing.

If the previous tenant of the rental unit were a smoker, then the professional would opt for a dry wash solution to eliminate any smell lingering in the rental unit, same for pets and small children.

For wooden furniture, there might be repair required due to scratches and scuff marks; the handyman would take care of that as well. A wood polish at the end would make the furniture look brand new.

Outdoor

The outdoors of the rental property is also essential to seal the deal. If the property has a front or backyard or even a swimming pool, they also need to be thoroughly cleaned.

The handyman professional would inspect the yard and advise the proper solution to the landlord. They would repair broken gates, prunes bushes, weed the garden, etc., upon instructions.

The same is the case with the swimming pool as well. The cleaning professional would sweep the debris and repair the pool structure if required.

All of this can be pretty hectic for a landlord to handle on their own. That is why they are advised to hire a reliable and affordable cleaning handyman for their cleaning rental unit requirement.
