How to Keep Mattress Topper from Sliding

While mattress toppers provide extra cushion for sleepers; they have a tendency to slide out of place. This can be a problem for people who need to maintain good sleep hygiene.

The following information will explain how to keep the mattress topper from sliding.

1. Fitted Mattress Toppers

One way to keep your mattress topper from slipping is by purchasing a fitted mattress topper. A fitted mattress topper works like a fitted sheet.

The corners of the topper are designed with elastic bands that fit along the edges of the mattress. All you have to do is buy a fitted mattress topper that is big enough to fit over the corners of your mattress.

Once the material is on the mattress, it should hold into place.

2. Mattress Suspenders Can Keep a Mattress Topper in Place

Most mattress toppers do not have fitted edges and this causes them to slide. One way to overcome this problem is by purchasing mattress suspenders.

Mattress suspenders are not well known or commonly use but they are a product. They’re also known as sheet suspenders or straps.

You simply connect one end of the unit to the bottom mattress on your bed and the other end to the mattress topper.

You will need at least 4 pairs to place around all the corners of the bed. You might also want to place the suspenders on the sides of the bed as well.

Once they are in place it should help to keep your topper from shifting out of place.

3. Safety Pins for your Mattress Topper

Safety pins can also help. Manufacturers do sell large-sized safety pins that you can use to connect your mattress topper to the mattress underneath.

You should purchase safety pins that are 4 to 6 inches long. The larger pins connect better and they hold the mattress into place more.

You might want to tape the edges of the pins to keep them from popping out of place and to protect your body in case they snap out of place.

4. Adhesive Velcro Strips

Adhesive Velcro strips can be sewn, stapled, or glued on the bottom part of the mattress topper and the mattress.

When you do this it should give your mattresses more security and support. The pins should also keep your mattress from sliding.

5. No-Skid Mats

No-skid mats are designed to keep people from falling inside of tubs or on slick surfaces. They can also be used to help your mattress topper from sliding.

You simply layer the bottom side of your mattress topper with no-skid mats and lay the topper on top of the mats.

Make sure that you get no-skid mats that have a rough enough surface to keep the mattress in place. You can also use extra support by pinning the topper in place after you placed it on the mats.

Remember, people have a tendency to roll around in bed and some people sleep wildly. Individuals that have a habit of pulling and moving their covers while they sleep should use extra supportive methods to keep the mattress in place.

This way they will have a good night’s rest and have good sleep hygiene. If you are a side sleeper then you’ll love to read Best Mattress Toppers for Side Sleepers hear.
