Building a home is never complete unless you have an accompanying shed that acts as additional storage space for various items, including gardening implements and tools.

No matter in which way you name a shed, in the end, it is a storage shed. The shed is very important to keep homes de-cluttered so that it looks clean and tidy. Sheds can differ in construction, size, design, and materials used for construction with timber being the most popular choice.

Sheds are mostly linked to gardening even though you can use it for any other purpose depending on your needs.

Sheds create that much required extra space that you can make larger without increasing the size but using your creativity about space utilization. Even smaller sheds can accommodate lots of items provided the storage layout is of the right kind.

For small space storage, it is essential to know where and how to use existing spaces to maximize its utility.

Basically, there are two types of shed design that you will come across – the apex shed and the pent shed. However, when selecting a garden shed, you must first consider how you plan to use the new addition to your home.

The shape and size of the shed are very important to achieve your goals of utilizing the space either to keep gardening tools, lawn mowers, hoses, etc. or would use it as general purpose storage where you can keep paint cans and sundry housekeeping items.

Apex Sheds

You can either buy readymade Apex sheds form Shedman or get one constructed especially for your needs, and the traditional apex shed consisting of a slanted roof is ideal for positioning against a fence, hedge or wall.

The shed has more height and allows tall people to stand in the middle of the room to access any item. The additional height adds versatility to the shed design as it is easy to store awkward and tall items that exceed the size of the door.

It also simplifies the process of manoeuvring materials to and from the shed that gives a virtual feeling that the room is more spacious than it actually is. 6’x4′ is the standard size of Apex sheds and you can even go for large sheds 18′ x 10′ suitable for workshop,

Shed Material

Swedish timber is the most preferred material for making sheds. Swedish woods are eco-friendly, organic, and recyclable that is also climate friendly.

The best thing about wood is that its properties do not change in cold climates and it reduces moisture problems because wood-decaying fungi and mould do not remain active below the temperature of +5oC.

Constructing a wooden shed means you are helping to reduce the carbon footprints as being a renewable material it absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Extra protection of the shed can be ensured by using tongue and groove roof cladding and flooring and by pressure treating the wood fully. To customize your new shed, share your ideas with a shed manufacturing company that can guide you through the process to have the shed that you have thought about.
