Most of our Indian homes are traditional when it comes to their inherent design, but with every generation that lives in that house, it becomes more and more important for the house to evolve in its design and functionality.

Although there is something magical about old homes; a sense of homeliness and a touch of the love of our ancestors through the charming elements that have made their way into those homes.

But with the passage of time, there is bound to be wear and tear and it is not feasible to continue living in that house without having to refurbish it, both inside and out. One does not have to do the whole drill and spend a fortune to modernize their home.

All it needs is small changes and some elbow cleaning and you will have yourself a modern home. Let’s learn more about it.

Consider Modern Tiling

The world of interior design has seen a complete turnaround and designs in each vertical have evolved manifold. Speaking of tiles, the choices and options are limitless.

There is a vast range of modern tiles in the market today that offer various colors, designs, textures, and sizes for you to choose from. You will get to see innumerable types of tiles in India as the Indian market is one of the biggest tile markets in the world.

Brighten-Up the Lighting

Our old homes may have very simple lighting, some of which might or might not be fully functional to date. Also in those days, they would make do with less lighting in the homes.

But lighting has become a very integral part of deciding the ambiance of the house today. Replacing old chandeliers that no longer do the job with modern, lightweight chandeliers or wall lamps, floor lamps, and even installing some LED ceiling lights can brighten up your homes and make them look beautiful and modern.

Upgrade Hardware, Faucets, and Gadgets

In a remodeling project, especially in a home that has been left untouched for a long time, hardware, faucets, and gadgets must have definitely worn out as they tend to wear out at a higher pace in general too because of constant use. Now that a replacement is due, might as well upgrade them with the latest designs that will modernize your homes.

Replace Carpet

Whilst carpet is a great flooring choice, it is one that needs refurbishing periodically as it becomes home to dust and germs over periodic use.

Whether you are remodeling your homes or not, replacing a carpet is a practice that must take place at regular intervals to maintain a healthy environment for the inhabitants residing in those homes. For a modern look, you can choose to have pre-finished flooring, and oblong or wood-like tiles.

Install New Doors and Windows

The first thing that comes to the eyes of all the visitors is the main door of your home. This one definitely needs an upgrade in your modern home.

Modern-day doors see designs that are sleeker, have handles that are quaint and unique, use vertical panes with frosted glass, and so on. Nowadays there has been some significant innovation in door hinges that are super functional and efficient for home usage.

Whilst sliding windows are the most user-friendly and conventional, they are becoming a bit outdated for modern interior designers today.

Punched opening windows are trendy and in line now for apartments that are small or medium in size. Larger apartments are witnessing a larger expanse of glass windows for the magnanimous views of the outside.

De-Clutter Is Important

The key to having a successful remodeling project is to ensure that the end result is not only great looking but is also one that looks tidy and minimal. Less is the new more and this means that de-cluttering the house is a very important step.

Especially homes that have never been redone for a while are usually also left astray when it comes to de-cluttering and these homes are always found to have unnecessary stacks of things that are no longer in use. Getting those things out of the house is a fresh start for your lives and your homes.

Rethink Storage

If there is one thing that modern homes are bound to have, then that is strategic storage designs. All modern homes are minimal in aesthetics and modern living is one that is clutter-free.

Thoughtful consideration is placed on where to build storage and how to design the cabinetry that holds it all. Clean lines and simple detailing make up the blueprints of the modern-day cabinetry design.

Traditional storage systems, on the other hand, have seen using recessed panels and trims with dark colors, a trend that is slowly fading into more contemporary and stylish builds.

Modernizing a home that has been kept in a traditional design doesn’t need one to have deep pockets and a huge budget number to get going.

Simple changes here and there will go a long way in redefining your homes and making them look and feel modern. These tips are surely going to help you get started on the project Modern Home!
