We can end up leaving it to the last minute, and then buying something that we’re just not super happy with.  We don’t think it has to be quite that difficult, so we decided to share our tips to help you choose something when you’re really stuck for a gift.

1. Find Out Their Interests

Often, the biggest block to buying a gift is simply not knowing what the recipient wants. One of the best ways to find a gift that the person will love is quite simple to find out what their interests are.

This could be anything from a favourite hobby, to a favourite type of music or food. Knowing their interests will give you a good starting point for finding a gift that they’ll actually enjoy.

2. Ask for Recommendations

If you’re still struggling to find a gift, try asking for recommendations from friends or family members. They may have some great ideas that you wouldn’t have thought of yourself, and it helps to make the process a little more communal, with some thought and effort coming from their whole community.

3. Get them a Personalised Gift

Often, personalised gifts are a great gift option, especially when you’re stuck for inspiration. Online stores such as www.gettingpersonal.co.uk have handy little sections where you can find an option that’s perfect for the recipient, and they can then add a little personalised engraving to it for you.

4. Consider a Gift Card

If you’re truly stuck for a gift and you know where the special someone likes to shop, then it’s a good idea to consider giving a gift card. Gift cards can also be a great option if the recipient is fussy about what they like, as they allow the person to choose something that they actually want! It can feel like a little bit of a cop-out, but if it means that the recipient gets something they appreciate, we reckon it’s a great idea.

5. Give an Experience

Instead of buying a ‘standard’ gift like a book or piece of jewellery, consider giving a more experiential gift, such as a flight to somewhere the person has always wanted to go or a ticket to see their favourite artist perform.

These types of gifts create memories that last in the long run and are often way more meaningful than the items that we’d normally consider when shopping for presents.

In Conclusion

when you’re stuck for a gift, it’s important to try to think outside the box a little – really try to think about the person’s interests, and what it is that they would truly appreciate.

Asking for recommendations from friends and family can be a great idea, as is considering a gift card, or giving a slightly more experience-based gift.

It’s important to remember that ultimately, what really matters is that the recipient knows that you’ve put care and attention into the process, showing just how much they mean to you.
