5 Plants for Keeping Ticks Away

It can be terrifying to think about a tick biting you, and potentially spreading disease to you in the process. But there are several steps that you can take to prevent a tick bite and keep yourself and your family safe, including your pets.

One thing you can do involves adding plants to your garden that might help repel ticks and keep them away. Continue reading for a shortlist of some of the plants that may do this for you.

1. Rosemary

Rosemary may be a good choice when you want to keep various pests out of your garden. In addition to helping to keep ticks away, it may also be useful when it comes to repelling other bugs, such as flies and aphids.

Consider adding several rosemary plants throughout your garden to get a nice barrier of protection against various pests, and to help keep you, your pets, and your other plants safe from unwanted insects.

2. Fleabane Daisy

When you want to add pretty flowers to your garden and around your home, but you also want to keep pests away, consider planting some fleabane . This plant might be helpful when it comes to repelling ticks, as well as flies, mosquitos, and fleas.

3. Wormwood

Next on our list of plants that may help repel ticks is wormwood. This plant might not only help repel ticks but might also help keep fleas at bay, which is definitely good news because you don’t ever want to deal with a flea infestation in your home or garden.

Plus, it’s attractive and easy to grow, and you can use it in containers or plant it along the border of your garden to add a little something extra to the outdoor space.

4. Lemongrass

Yet another option that is worth considering is lemongrass because it is also a plant that might help repel pests.

Lemongrass oil is even used as an ingredient in some products that are meant to help keep ticks away. This attractive plant can be used as a border around your garden or you can set it up to grow in containers.

5. Rose Geranium

Finally, a beautiful flower that you can consider adding to your outdoor space is the rose geranium.

Its oil may also be used to help repel ticks, so it might be worth adding this plant to your garden when you want to keep them out. Plus, it might also work against mosquitos.

Extra Tips

If you don’t want to go about planting all of these on your own, and you would like to hire a local landscaper instead, but you want more information about them before you hire them, you can use Nuwber to get the details you need.

If you have pets that spend time in your backyard, be sure to check that whatever you plant in your garden will be non-toxic to them.

Many plants that are fine for humans are harmful to animals like cats and dogs, so doing your research will help you select the plants that will repel pests while keeping your pets safe.

Now that you know about some of the plants that you add throughout your garden in an effort to keep ticks away and keep your loved ones safe, what are you waiting for? Shop your favorite garden centers and websites to see if you can find these plants, and then get outside and enjoy the process of getting them into the ground and helping them grow and thrive.
