Suppose you want to mount your new LED light bar but aren’t sure how; we will show you how. Installation is simple with the right equipment and supplies.

These guidelines include connecting to existing LED lights. The installation will vary depending on the type of vehicle, current lighting system, and wiring method used, but these directions should offer you a good idea of what to expect.

There are also light bar mounting instructions available, which are organized by bracket form and vehicle.

How to Wire Up a LED Light Bar

Modern LED light bars are simpler to mount with lower power requirements and more compact dimensions than older halogen light designs. Follow these four simple steps to wire a light bar easily at home easily.

Apply a Relay Instead of a Simple Switch

Despite the LED’s lesser power draw, using a relay is still better than running full power through a simple switch.

Relaxation is commonly rated to handle a lot higher load than switches not to overheat or malfunction when used.

Usually, it also offers a lower voltage drop and can be paired with a single control switch to allow you to turn on and off various lights simultaneously to clean up the system.

Select a Fuse

The fusion between your relay and the battery will also secure your vehicle’s electrical system in the event that anything unforeseen occurs when your lights are on.

A fuse is inexpensive, but it will sacrifice itself before any power surges flow into your lights or spread across the rest of your truck’s cabling.

Ensure that you select a fuse with the right amp rating for the power draw for your lights if it is too high, it will not be used if necessary.

Ensure That your Grounds are Good

You will most probably wire your LED light bar power transmission directly to the grid, but you don’t have to use the same negative battery terminal as your battery.

Ensure That your Grounds are Good

You can mount your wiring to the car’s frame, provided that it provides a clear link between your circuit and the bare metal.

Before it becomes permanent to ensure a solid touch, you want to test this ground with a simple multimeter.

Settle on an Auxiliary Switching

Another significant element of wiring a light bar is the type of switch you are using.

In the car, you can wire an aftermarket switch that triggers your relay. You can also plug into the cable harness for your vehicle’s high-beam headlamps for cleaner mounting and send power to the relay once they are powered.

For two reasons, this is helpful: If the high beams are on, it is dark enough to need your light bar, and on a modern car, you won’t let your lighting on unintentionally by turning the ignition on and lighting off, thereby avoiding the drainage of your battery.

By following these steps, you will turn the protection and pleasure of your night explorations, regardless of how far they can bring you from civilization.
