Comfy and Eye-catching Bedding

If your room has a mostly neutral color palette, you can bring in a pop of color with the bedding. From solid colors like purple and yellow to various patterns like flowers, the choices when it comes to the design abound.

Moreover, when choosing the bedding , you should also ensure you get high-quality, soft sheets as well as a fluffy duvet. You can also choose Egyptian cotton beddings to get a more comfortable experience.

To make the bedroom more luxurious, you should put plenty of throw pillows against the headboard as well.

A Statement Headboard

Speaking of headboards, if you don’t already have one, you should most certainly add it to your bed. If you don’t like your bed, you can get an entirely new frame.

However, there is no need for such drastic measures. You can either purchase a headboard separately or make one on your own if you are feeling crafty.

It will not only add personality and a more grown-up look but it will also support your back when sitting up and reading a book in bed, for example.

Plenty of Lighting Sources

Every room in your home should have appropriate lighting and the same goes for your bedroom. Layering lights are important which is why you should have an overhead fixture, a statement floor lamp, and a nightstand lamp on each side of the bed.

You can even install a dimmer switch that will allow you to control how much light you are getting. That way, you can make the atmosphere as cozy as you want and you will still have enough light if you decide to read in bed.

Quality Curtains

In addition to artificial light, natural light is also important. That is why you want curtains that will let in plenty of sunlight. However, you also want your privacy so ensure they have a texture that will not allow passers-by to get a peek inside.

On the other hand, if you work during the night, you will have to sleep during the day. For that reason, get a set of curtains that can completely block out all light.

In terms of color, you can keep it simple and neutral or get a patterned design that will complement the rest of the room’s details.

A Soft Rug

To make the bedroom more inviting, you should also add a soft rug. It will not only make the room feel less cold but it will help tie the room together as well.

Plus, it will muffle the sound of footsteps. Position it so that you can always step on something cozy when you get out of bed.

You can even layer them by getting one bigger rug and several smaller ones. Pick the material and colors or patterns that best suit the vibe of the room.

Personal and Interesting Artwork

You should not neglect décor either. So, if you are creative, you can make some art and hang it up. You don’t have to be a professional painter; you can simply purchase a canvas and some acrylics and start painting.

There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube you can follow. Alternatively, you can buy pieces from local artists or display your collection of travel memorabilia.

If you have a personal connection to an item, it will surely lift the spirit of the entire bedroom.

A Few Houseplants

Finally, you should enhance your bedroom with a couple of houseplants. In addition to looking really sophisticated, greenery has many benefits for our health such as boosted immunity and mood.

So, why not make the most of it? In case you are not good with plants, you should opt for some low-maintenance species that are hard to kill.

These seven essentials are something every bedroom should have. If you are lacking any of them, add them as soon as possible and enjoy your bedroom to the fullest.
