Crystal chandelier lighting is a definite way to spark up a room.

If you’re moving into a new place or want to redesign your current house, then you can never go wrong with investing in the right type of crystal chandeliers.

However, to get there, it’s best to understand the wide array of chandeliers and where it will suit best.

What is Crystal Chandeliers?

Generally speaking, a chandelier is an assortment of different types of lighting that hangs from the ceiling. Due to their symmetry, chandeliers produce a very vibrant and beautiful effect in virtually every locality.

Individually, the lighting that goes into them doesn’t hold much merit or aesthetic value. However, when working in conjunctions or parallel, they truly have the ability to light up a room.

Choose the Right Crystal Chandelier

If you’re looking to get a chandelier for yourself, then there are a few tips that you should keep in mind. The process of itself isn’t that daunting.

However, you have to remember that a beautiful chandelier can arguably be the difference between good and best.

  • Style and Variety

There are a plethora of different styles of crystal chandeliers. If you want to make the most of these crystals lighting, then you should pay attention to the particular aesthetics and how it will compliment your room.

To start with, try to rule out if your room requires one or two majestic chandeliers. Once done, you can proceed from that point onwards.

As far as designs go, the only limitation is your imagination since chandeliers can be customized by the right chandelier manufacturer .

  • Size of the Chandelier

For starters, the first thing that matters are the size of the chandelier. The size that you want to buy mostly depends upon the place where you would hang it.

Like for example, for the entryway or the top of your dining table, you would want to purchase medium sized chandeliers.

For the hallway or the main hall, you have to purchase a chandelier that is large enough to light up the entire place. And lastly, for bathrooms or kitchen, something small would do.

A decent rule for purchasing chandeliers is that a chandelier is supposed to be 12 inches smaller than the table on top of which it is to hang, and should be at least 48 inches away from every wall on all four sizes.

  • Tips for the Bulbs of Chandelier

Keep one thing in mind. If the chandelier light is beaming directly on a person’s face from above, it is going to cause undesirable shadows.

Also, the high wattage bulbs are going to cause heat and table to glare. Here are the different types of bulbs.

  1. The flame-shaped bulbs were used as a replacement for candles of lights, and you can use them if you want a more aesthetic look.
  2. The incandescent bulbs are the soft-toned ones and are inexpensive. But they need replacing very often.
  3. The LED lights last very long, like up to 20 years, save energy, and their colors can also vary.
  4. The fluorescent bulbs use little energy and emit little heat. But they are expensive and not dimmable.
  5. The dimmer bulbs allow you to adjust the lighting.

The type of bulbs used in a crystal chandelier mostly depends upon the crystal chandelier manufacturer.

  • Chandelier Placement

The placement of chandelier matters a lot. The things that you have to take care of are the height on which they are hanging, and the size of them depending upon the room.

  1. For the entryway chandeliers, you need to see what your space is like. They are not supposed to hang below the second floor when it comes to the two-story entryways. They should be hung in line with the door for balance.
  2. The dining room chandeliers should have a diameter that is one foot narrower than the table. They should be centered.
  3. The chandeliers should be placed in the middle of the living room, and their size should depend upon the size of the room.
  4. The bathroom chandeliers should be small and can hang above the tub or the vanity space. There should be 8 feet of distance between the tub and the chandelier.

 Crystal Chandelier Maintenance

Like all other accessories in the house, your chandelier will require pretty much the same routine. However, the main factor to consider here is that the crystals can readily come off. If you’re looking for a quick clean-up, then it is best to leave the crystals on.

However, if you’re doing your monthly clean-up, we heavily recommend that you take the crystals out and clean them thoroughly for any traces of dirt or dust.

In all cases, it is of utmost importance that you use the right type of sprays and always use a lint-free cloth so that your chandeliers are as good as new by the time you’re done cleaning rather than having traces of minute cotton embedded in them.
