For example, the global pandemic , economic concerns, work commitments, and even the weather.

It could even be because you’ve made a big commitment to purchasing the perfect house and land packages. It’s a great investment even if it means the funds aren’t available for a vacation for a year or two.

Of course, the closer it gets to the holiday season and perhaps the time you would traditionally go away, the more you’ll be thinking about vacations. Fortunately, with a little effort, you can add vacation vibes to your own home.

Invite The Outdoors In

If you have patio doors then having them open will make your inside feel more like the outside. But, that’s only part of the equation. You don’t need to have the doors open or even have the doors. Instead, add natural fibers to your inside spaces.

One of the easiest ways of doing this is to use outside furniture in your home. Add a couple of hanging chairs with a view out to the garden and you’ll be able to relax, feeling like you’re in a tropical paradise.

Introduce Plants

The plants in your garden are designed to flourish in your local climate. That’s why they do so well, even if they don’t feel tropical.

You can improve the effect by adding plants to your home. But, instead of choosing traditional ones, consider getting ones that generally flourish in vacation settings.

You can adjust the heating to accommodate the plants if needed, and even water them regularly.

If you’re terrible at keeping plants alive then consider some cactus or invest in high-quality fake plants.

Upgrade Your Textiles

Nothing says vacation better than tropical soft furnishings. Consider replacing your rugs and curtains, perhaps introducing some tropical cushions and a throw. It will make the space feel more like a vacation.

The best way to approach your textiles is to look at their current state as work mode, think about what these items would wear in vacation mode, that’s what you need to get to transform the feel of your space.

Repaper Your Walls

This isn’t an option if you want the look to last for a couple of weeks. But, if you don’t mind your home feeling more like a vacation all the time, you should change the wallpaper.

The best options are those that reflect natural elements such as grass leaf effect or even palm trees. You don’t need to repaper all the walls, just one feature wall is enough.

Replace Your Bedding

When you are on vacation you sleep in a different bed and it will have clean cotton sheets that perfectly contour the bed. It allows you to fall instantly into a deep sleep.

You can’t put clean sheets on your bed every day. But, you can get fresh white cotton sheets. They will make your room feel more luxurious and more like you are on vacation.

If you choose the material wisely it won’t wrinkle easily and this will minimize maintenance time while maximizing your holiday feel.

Consider Adding A Canopy

If you have ever stayed in a place popular with mosquitoes you’ll be familiar with the anti-mosquito netting that is draped over the beds, creating a fairy tale feel. You don’t need to live in a mosquito area to replicate the look. It can make bedtime feel magical which is more like when you’re on vacation.

Adjust Your Lighting

The best way to recreate the vacation lighting in your bedroom, the restaurant, or even the sunset, is to add dimmable lights to your home. Even better, make them smart lights and you can control everything from your phone, regardless of where you are.

It’s a great way to create the right ambiance.

Add The Right Scent

The best hotels have a scent that seems to simply linger. You can replicate this effect at home, helping you to feel more like you’re on vacation.

Simply choose your preferred smell and add several drops of essential oil to your diffuser. The smell will lightly fragrance the air, leaving you feeling good. Just remember not to use too many diffusers, you don’t want the aroma to overpower your home.

If you are still searching for ideas then think about the various places you have been in the past and take some of your favorite elements from each one.
