Replace or Repair Furnace

Furnace Age

The furnace has an average life span of about 15-20 years. The furnace age is considered as the major factor when thinking about furnace replacement.

If you’re using a furnace for less than 10 years you could opt for an extended period of maintenance. If it is above 12 years and it has some issues then it is good to replace it with the new one.

If this is the case with your existing heating system, you can get in touch with Edmonton furnace installation to get a new, energy-efficient furnace installed.

This reduces the amount we usually spend on fixing alone.

Frequency of Issues

If you can’t solve the furnace frequency issues without the help of an expert then it is likely to give upon its life. No active performance means it no longer has the potential to heat up.

  1. If the repair cost is less than that of the new system then go with a repairing option.
  2. If you have repaired your furnace many times and still, it gets damaged the replacement is a good choice.

Change in Energy Bills

If your furnace is operating sufficiently but you notice the increase in the electricity bill each month then it indicates that your system lost its efficiency and all you have to do is call for service assistance.

By losing its efficiency the furnace begins to fluctuate and the energy is wasted enormously.

Compare your previous bill amounts and the recent bill amounts and sees the difference in them and if the amount difference varies then it a sign to replace the furnace.

Uneven Heating

If the heat is not spreading properly inside the home then it may be due to the fault in the duct or tube system. An immediate service would let you know whether to repair or replace the furnace.

Strange Noises

The older the furnace the more sound it produces. Rattling, popping, grating, or banging are the result of a lack of ability to moisturize the air. This needs a quick replacement.

Burner Flame

Natural gas produces a blue flame with light yellow shades at the top. An incomplete fuel combustion results in a yellow flame output and the furnace could produce carbon monoxide.

It needs an expert consultation and it indicates the furnace is worn out. Some of the signs of carbon monoxide production are:

  1. Surplus moisture found on the windows, walls, and other colder areas.
  2. Additional rusting on flue pipes and other pipe connections.
  3. Lack of upward outline on the outlet.
  4. Band of dust around the furnace.
  5. Water leakage was found in the vent, chimney, and flue pipes.
  6. Visible rusting of vent pipes.

Be careful and cautious with these signs and make sure that you have attached a carbon monoxide detector on every floor of your house or building.

Should You Change to Gas Burner from Oil Burner?

Before changing the oil burner with a gas burner note the differences between them and also how much it would take to replace the oil burner with a gas burner.

Practically a gas burner is less expensive than an oil burner. The gas burner is around $1500-$3000 while the oil burner is around $2000-$8000.

The connection of a gas burner is done from inside and outside of the house. $1000-$1500 is spent to install an underground pipe from gas storage to the house.

Additional works include lining from the chimney that sums around $750 to $2000. Moreover, moving the oil tank above the ground costs about $750 while concealing it costs around $3000.

Final Words

By installing new furnaces and monitoring them from time to time will have an effective result in and around the house we live in.
