In Australia, the Great Wall Motors (GWM) brand has a bit of a mixed reputation. However, that has all changed with the GWM ute range – the GWM Cannon .

The GWM Ute is an absolute workhorse, making it the ideal car for carpenters and handymen.

The dual-cab 4×4 ute is affordable and comparable in performance to the Ford Ranger. With the higher tiered variation, the GWM Ute Cannon X offers even more in the ways of safety systems and technology.

If you are a carpenter and considering getting a new ute, take a look at why the GWM Cannon is the right choice for you.

Why Choose the GWM Ute Cannon

Excellent Value for Money

The GWM Cannon is larger than several other similar cars and comes at a more affordable price.

The ute has plenty of horsepower under the bonnet and plenty of cargo space in the truck bed. This vehicle will easily be able to carry heavy loads, wooden planks, and all your woodworking tools.

The GWM has a signature look with the large GWM logo on the grille, which will turn heads and could be an excellent marketing ploy for your carpentry business.

The GWM ute Cannon X is the most expensive at $40,990. Next in the series is the Canon L, priced at $37,990. Finally is the standard GWM Cannon, which comes in at a very affordable $33,990.

Plenty of Tech for Your Comfort

Even the base dual-cab model has plenty of features.

If your hands are full, you do not want to fiddle through your pockets, making the keyless entry and push-button start a dream.

Internal Features

Once in the car, you can enjoy an “eco” leather-trimmed steering wheel and seats, a large infotainment system that connects to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a pleasant-to-see digital instrument cluster.

Whether your ute is loaded with tools or you are out for a drive on your day off, driving the GWM Cannon will not disappoint.

With an eight-speed automatic transmission, adaptive cruise control, LED headlights, and daytime running lights, driving the Cannon will always be an enjoyable experience.

Safety Features

The GWM ute offers plenty of safety tech. There are rear parking sensors if you have to squeeze into tight spaces, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward-collision warning, four-wheel disc brakes, and seven airbags.

The Canon L and Cannon X come with front parking sensors and a camera that sees 360-degrees.

A Smooth Drive

The GWM ute Cannon has a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

You can select between two-wheel-drive (where the front wheels do all the work) or four-wheel-drive (which enlists some help from the rear axle) using the drive mode selector, and if you have to go on particularly rough terrain you can enlist the help of the rear differential lock.

This ute has an impressive towing capacity – up to 3,000 kilograms. Although it is just less than similar vehicles which can comfortably tow around 3,500 kg, the Cannon comes in at a lower price.

The fuel efficiency of the GWM ute Cannon is good for this type of vehicle, coming in at around 9.1L/100km.

The Gwm Ute Cannon Is the Right Choice for Carpenters

Whether you go for the GWM ute Cannon X, the Canon L, or the base model, you will find that the GWM ute delivers.

Although the center console does not offer a lot of storage space, there is plenty of cargo space available to store your tools or transport your carpentry work without it feeling cramped in the cabin.

The Cannon has a beautiful exterior, with a sports bar at the back, LED taillights and headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and body-colored bumpers. The truck bed offers plenty of storage space,

If you do not care about the outside, then there is plenty under the hood to impress you. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine packs a punch, especially when combined with the automatic transmission.

Final Thoughts

The GWM ute Cannon is the perfect car for a carpenter. It is a workhorse, with plenty of space for equipment and tools.

The high ground clearance and 4×4 abilities mean you can take it on even the toughest terrains to get to your next job, and the luxurious interior means you will be extremely comfortable while driving there.
