Why the Australia Government is Paying to Get You Switch to Solar

Have you heard of the generous Australia solar rebates program that the government has been pushing lately?

Especially for the state of Victoria, where its solar power rebate scheme is getting a major boost in the State Budget starting from the end of November as part of a $797 million energy package. Why the huge incentives, you may ask?

Why the Australia Government is Paying to Get You Switch to Solar

For one, getting households to switch to solar is part of the government’s road to preserving the environment. If you don’t already know, many countries face problems of famine due to the mass destruction of forests in their attempt to source for fuel.

With solar panels, there is less environmental destruction given there are lesser cases of mining or extraction of raw materials, events that eventually lead to the destruction of forests and water catchment areas.

When more and more households go on solar, there is less of this which in turn promotes steady rainfalls that greatly boost production and in a chain reaction, the national income consequently. The effects are long term and beneficial, which is why the government is pushing strongly for the switch to solar.

Solar panels also generate job opportunities. Masses of them, in fact. Given the high unemployment rate that is not just in the country but worldwide today, this is of great importance.

The jobs created come in the form of manufacturing (of the solar panels), research and development (for future improvements), maintenance as well as cultural integration.

With jobs like maintenance and installation, they do not require too long a training term so it creates a great advantage to those who may not have many skills or are unemployed.

As long as there is the sun, these jobs are more or less guaranteed to a certain extent since the need for ongoing improvements and modifications of the device is required.

This is why you see the reduction in the cost of a solar panel nowadays compared to say, 10 years ago. It is because there is such continual research done on them that improves the cost-efficacy required to make it more affordable to people today.

Yes, even without the government rebates, solar panels are much cheaper nowadays. Combine with the generous incentives available from the government, you may even see yourself enjoying a $0 upfront cost, meaning no out-of-the-pocket cost on your part when you make the switch!
