This furniture is unmatched in versatility and adds lovely visual softness to any bedroom or living room. However, the upholstered furniture can get dirty easily even if you take great care of it.

However, cleaning upholstery at home is not as difficult a task as you think. Timely cleanliness and maintenance can keep your upholstery as good as new for years. The upholstered furniture needs to be cleaned preferably once a week or at least once a month. Here are some handy tips to clean upholstered furniture when needed.

  • Remove Stains
  • Treat the odors
  • Vacuum upholstered furniture to get rid of dirt as much as you can
  • Remove the covers and clean them
  • Leave the covers to dry
  • Put the covers back on, you are done

Remove Stains

It is essential to treat the spots immediately as the neglected ones become difficult to remove. Since you did not treat the stain on your upholstery furniture immediately, it’s high time to do it now.

There are several types of stains, and each stain needs to be addressed differently. Since this is just a general cleaning guide, all one can say is to examine the stain to determine the type of stain and find an effective solution accordingly.

Treat the Odors

Once the stains are removed, take an oath to get rid of the odor. Baking soda is the ideal way to get rid of all kinds of odors from the upholstery. It is far better than the store-bought fresheners for this job.

Apply baking soda to the affected area with a bristle brush and leave it for a few hours or overnight if possible. After that, you can vacuum the treated area to eliminate all the odors.

Vacuum Upholstered Furniture to Get Rid of Dirt as Much as You Can

Vacuuming your upholstered furniture is one of the best things to keep it clean and maintained. Vacuum all the visible parts of the upholstery attachment first. Once the visible parts are done do the back sides, top, and corners to get rid of all the dirt particulars from those areas as well.

Remove the Covers and Clean Them

If your upholstery furniture has removable covers and care labels have listed them as machine washable, remove the covers and wash according to the guidelines given on the label. Don’t use too hot water as it can shrink the covers.

Leave the Covers to Dry

Once you are done with washing according to the instructions given on the label, leave them to air dry. If you do not have enough patience place them near a fan or heat-vent to get rid of moisture quickly. Turn the covers at least once to dry even more quickly and evenly.

Put the Covers Back on, You Are Done

When the upholstery furniture is entirely dried, iron if they need and put the covers back on. For some people, it’s a hectic task they hire cleaning services like i do cleaning services in Clarksville TN.

Note

As stated,-above this is just a general guide. You should see the care label first and clean the furniture as per the instructions given on it.
