If you want to be happy, you need to find some way to connect with your emotions.

That means learning how to feel your feelings and healthily express them. Unfortunately, most people don’t know how to do this.

The Science of Emotion

One of the most common problems people has been not knowing how to feel their emotions. This can lead to a lot of stress, anxiety, and depression.

How to Connect with Your Emotions

Finding a way to connect with your emotions is the key to find happiness ; not knowing how to feel your feelings, you won’t be able to express them in a healthy way.

You may have heard that feeling happy is good for your health. This is true in a small sense. However, in order to be happy, you need to find a way to connect with your emotions. This means learning how to feel your emotions and healthily express them.

The energies That Make You Happy

Various energies create happiness;

1. Joy

Your joy comes from expressing love toward other people or yourself. It occurs when you experience positive energy flowing through you or give something it’s worth.

For example, giving your children attention and appreciation will provide them happiness because they see you as someone who cares about them. When you care about others, you will notice that it makes you happy.

When you take an interest in things around you, such as art and nature, you will find that these things bring you joy because you appreciate them more than before.

2. Love

You are connected with love when you can accept yourself and others as they are without judgment. In other words, love allows you to be accepting and non-judgmental so you can focus on the positive aspects of life rather than those negative ones.

3. Pleasure

Happiness comes from experiencing pleasure. We enjoy ourselves by doing what we enjoy. Since everyone enjoys different activities, you must learn which activities make you happy.

As you practice these activities, you will get into the habit of enjoying them. Eventually, you will stop focusing on the activity itself and start feeling pleasure from doing it.

4. Focus

Concentration has two meanings: One is concentration on one thing at a time (focus). The other meaning refers to focusing on what brings you joy (joyful concentration).

To concentrate on something, you must first find out what gives you joy. Once you identify this source of pleasure, you will automatically begin concentrating on it.

5. Meaning

Meaning includes purposefulness and intentionality. Purposefulness is the process of finding out what you value most in life. Intentionality involves making choices based on values.

For example, if you value family over money, it would be appropriate to spend time with your family instead of pursuing higher earnings.

6. Awareness

Awareness is not just seeing but also listening, understanding, and taking action. It involves noticing an opportunity, paying attention to what’s happening, analyzing situations, and solving problems.

Therefore, awareness is important for becoming aware of opportunities while they occur as well as identifying problem areas within yourself and your relationships.

7. Growth

Growth comes from expanding your boundaries and thinking creatively. Since growth is all about change, sometimes it requires challenging old beliefs; therefore, it can be scary.

However, you limit yourself and become stagnant when you do not expand your boundaries. Also, new ideas will not come into your mind unless you create new spaces where they can flourish.

8. Freedom

Freedom comes from letting go of unhealthy thoughts and releasing yourself from destructive habits so that you can live freely. To achieve freedom, you must develop the courage to face challenges.

This does not mean living recklessly but rather facing obstacles head-on. Achieving freedom often requires changing certain behaviors and acquiring skills to overcome adversity.

9. Truth

Truth is knowing yourself as you really are at all times. This knowledge will help you avoid being deceived by people who have ulterior motives or are simply lying.

If you know that someone is attempting to mislead you intentionally, you will sense deception. Similarly, if you’re honest with yourself, you’ll be naturally inclined not to trust someone else.

10. Wisdom

Wisdom is not always associated with age. You can gain wisdom through experience. There are many ways to acquire wisdom, such as participating in spiritual practices, reading good books, or studying subjects like psychology.

11. Power

True power is having control over situations. When you feel powerless, it means there are forces beyond your influence, thus controlling events. Conversely, true power comes from creating circumstances favorable to you.

If you want to find happiness, first have to understand how to connect with your emotions. This is where the science of emotion comes in. You can learn from scientists and read articles to develop an understanding of how your emotions work and how to use them to improve your life.
