Pin Oak: Quercus Palustris

These fast-growing trees grow straight, and they tend to have lots of branches that grow horizontally. After a while, the lower branches on the tree will start to the drop down.

The leaves that grow on the Quercus Palustris are oval-shaped and range from seven to fifteen centimeters in length. During the warmer months, the leaves produce a bright green color, but you can expect them to turn a dark red color during the Autumn.

It is not surprising to see the dead leaves remaining on the tree, even weeks after they have died.

The large tree can grow up to 40 meters. It can also produce flattened spherical acorns. It is a nontoxic tree, so you don’t have to worry about your loved ones or your pets making physical contact with them.

They grow best in wet soil, and they can withstand short flooding. You will find them in parks, industrial areas, and gardens throughout Ozark.

The beautiful tree colors in the fall are one of the reasons people like to plant these in their garden.

American Elm

The American Elm is a large tree that can grow up to 100 feet. It was planted throughout America during the 1960s, but many died because of the Dutch Elm Disease.

However, American Elms are still found in Ozark, but experts don’t advise people to plant them, which is a pity, because they do provide plenty of shade because they are so broad, which would make them perfect for large gardens.

There are some disease-resistant varieties of the tree that have been introduced into the market in recent years, but people are advised to plant these with caution. It is strongly recommended not to over-plant these varieties.

The tree produces leaves that have a nice green color, which changes into a bring yellow in the fall. Also, the tree produces beautiful flowers that bloom during the springtime.

The bark of the tree is a gray color, which changes as the tree matures.

It grows best in well-drained soil, but it can also thrive in areas that get plenty of sunshine. A lot of woodworkers use wood to make furniture from these trees.
